Anglesea
Anglesea is a small town on the banks of the Anglesea River, with a great variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, and a wealth of nature based activities right at your fingertips. A very pleasant stop for a picnic and play for children is at Coogoorah Park, overlooking the river . This lovely bushland setting with pirates' adventure playground, raised boardwalk, and picnic tables provide a welcome break from a drive down the Great Ocean Road. The multitudes of waterways which are extensions of the Anglesea River provide good fishing and a challenging canoe course. Paddle boats and canoes can be hired near the bridge and provide a delightful adventure for young and old.
Anglesea has many fantastic walking and riding tracks, and is a great destination to visit with your bicycles. The Surf Coast Walk meanders along the cliffs through Anglesea, and cyclists will enjoy riding along the cycle tracks which start along the river near the main shops.
Anglesea has plenty of great restaurants and shops, from surfwear to giftware and all in between, and also has a large local supermarket for those wanting to cook up thier catch of the day at home. The local hotel has a great selection of meals, as well as many other restaurants in the town serving pastas, pizza, fish and chips and modern Australian cuisine.
