Portarlington
Portarlington is a lovely bayside town and one of the few towns in Victoria to boast a north facing beach, and stunning bay views across Port Phillip Bay towards Melbourne, clearly visibly in the distance on a sunny cloudless day. Portarlington is fast becoming the mussel farming capital of Victoria, producing mussels of exceptional standard. The mussel ropes can be seen from many points in the town, appearing like little clusters of dots in the water.
Located only a 30 minute drive from Geelong or a 20 minute drive from the Queenscliff ferry terminal, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were already on holidays the moment you drive along the road leading into Portarlington. The picturesque hills roll down to meet the sparkling bay, rows of olive trees line the roadside paddocks and vineyards are plentiful. Portarlington is very central to all the attractions of the Bellarine Peninsula, and is home to the National Trust listed Portarlington Mill
The main street of Portarlington has a variety of cafes and lovely shops, all overlooking the park with a fantastic playground for the kids and the water beyond. Visitors to the town will enjoy a stroll along the pier or may like to try their hand at fishing from some of the local fishing spots. Bring your own boat along on your Portarlington holiday and launch from the boat ramp at Point Richards. Visitors will delight in buying fresh mussels directly from the boats tied up to the pier, in season. Bring your bicycle and enjoy a cycle along the trails that follow the water, around to the coastal towns of Indented Heads and St Leonards.
There is a wide variety of Accommodation in Portalington.
